Removals across Europe

We move households between Turkey and the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Scandinavia and all other European countries.

The process in 5 steps

  1. Free survey on site or by video, with net m³ measurement.
  2. Written quote: transport type, loading date and delivery window.
  3. Customs paperwork prepared by our team.
  4. Packing and loading: dismantling, protection and numbering.
  5. Delivery into your home, checked against the inventory.

Which transport option is right for your move?

An international move is never an off-the-shelf product. A single person moving from Istanbul to Vienna with twelve boxes needs a very different solution from a family of five relocating an entire house from Cologne to Antalya. That is why, during the survey, we first talk about volume, your preferred date and your budget – and only then recommend one of the following transport options.

Dedicated vehicle (exclusive transport)

The truck carries only your household goods and drives directly from your old address to your new one. There is no reloading at a warehouse along the way; your belongings stay in the same load space from loading to delivery. This option is ideal from roughly 25–30 m³ – the contents of an average three- to four-room home – and whenever the date has to be fixed, for example because your lease ends or your children need to start at a new school on time.

Container by sea and road

For very large households, or for destinations that are cheaper to reach by sea, we use 20- or 40-foot containers. The container is loaded at your address, sealed, and only opened again at the destination. Transit takes longer than by truck, but the cost per cubic metre is often lower for large volumes.

Part load (groupage)

For smaller volumes – a few boxes, a student room or individual pieces of furniture – your goods travel together with other shipments heading in the same direction. You only pay for the space you actually use. In return the schedule is more flexible, because the vehicle leaves once it is sufficiently full. You will find all details on our part load page.

Air freight for urgent items

If certain things are needed immediately at the destination – work documents, laptop accessories, children’s clothes for the first weeks – a small part of your shipment can be sent ahead by air while the main move follows by road. It is more expensive per kilogram, but it makes the first days much more comfortable.

Transit times and distances at a glance

Actual transit time depends on the route, border crossings, customs clearance and the transport option. As a rough guide for dedicated vehicles departing from Istanbul:

  • Bulgaria, Romania, Greece: usually only a few days of driving.
  • Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary: typically around a week door to door, depending on customs clearance.
  • Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland: a slightly longer drive, usually one to two weeks.
  • United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Spain, Portugal: the longest road routes, with ferries or additional customs steps.

Part loads also involve waiting time until the vehicle is full. Please note that these figures are based on experience and are not a guarantee. What counts is the delivery window we confirm to you in writing before loading.

How the price is calculated

Many online calculators quote flat rates that suddenly no longer apply on moving day. We work differently: our quote is based on a net m³ measurement at your home or by video call. The following factors are also taken into account:

  1. Volume: the measured volume of your furniture and boxes. Packing typically adds around 10–20%.
  2. Route and destination country: distance, tolls, ferries and border crossings.
  3. Transport option: dedicated vehicle, container or part load.
  4. Packing service: whether we pack everything, or you pack boxes yourself and we handle furniture and fragile items.
  5. Access: floor level, lift, distance from the truck to the front door, parking restrictions, possibly an external furniture lift.
  6. Additional services: furniture assembly, storage with FlexiDepo, disposal, cleaning, or special items such as a piano or safe.

The result is a written quote that shows every item separately. For a first estimate of your volume, use our m³ calculator.

Your move planned step by step

An international move should ideally start eight weeks before loading day. In the first weeks you deal with cancellations, school or nursery places, deregistration and your new address. Next come the inventory list, packing materials and customs documents. In the final week you defrost the fridge and freezer, gather important documents and pack a suitcase for the first few days. Our free moving planner gives you a checklist of every task, tailored to your date.

Whether your household goods can be imported or exported duty-free is something you can check in advance with our duty-free check. It does not replace personal advice, but in two minutes it shows you which conditions matter.

Country-specific points

EU countries

Within the EU, uniform rules apply to household goods arriving from non-EU countries such as Turkey. If you transfer your normal place of residence to the EU, you can usually import used household goods free of duties under certain conditions. Typically you must have lived outside the EU for at least twelve months and have used the items yourself for some time. We prepare the exact documents together with you.

Switzerland and Norway

Neither country is in the EU, and both have their own customs procedures. An additional clearance at the border is required, and the requirements for the inventory list and proof of residence differ. We allow a little more lead time for these destinations.

United Kingdom

Since Brexit, the UK has been a third country for customs purposes. Moves to or from the United Kingdom require separate declarations, and the route crosses the Channel. Allow at least four to six weeks of preparation.

The survey: the basis for a fair quote

Before we name a price, we look at your household – in person through our teams in Istanbul or Germany, or by video call if you live elsewhere in Europe. We go through every room: living room, bedrooms, kitchen, children’s rooms, bathroom, storage room, basement, attic, balcony and garage. We note which furniture is coming, what needs to be dismantled and which items are particularly delicate, such as glass cabinets, artwork, musical instruments or large mirrors.

At the same time we check access: Is there a lift, and does the sofa fit into it? How far is it from the truck to the front door? Does a parking suspension need to be arranged at the destination? Can a large truck use the street, or do we need a smaller shuttle vehicle? These details determine how many people and which vehicles we plan for – and therefore a realistic price. By the end of the survey you know the net volume of your household, the recommended transport option and an outline schedule. The written quote usually follows within one or two working days.

Loading day: how our teams work

On loading day the team arrives at the agreed time with the vehicle, tools and packing materials. First, floors, door frames and the stairwell are covered with protective film and blankets. Then wardrobes, beds and shelves are dismantled; screws and small parts go into labelled bags attached to the relevant piece of furniture. Upholstered furniture gets a protective cover, wooden surfaces bubble wrap and corner protectors, glass and porcelain are wrapped piece by piece.

Every box and every item of furniture is given a number, recorded in the inventory list together with its contents and room. This list is the basis for customs and for checking everything on delivery. Before the vehicle leaves, we walk through the empty home with you to make sure nothing has been forgotten, and you sign the list.

Delivery at your new address

At the destination, your contact person gets in touch in good time with the exact delivery date. The team carries every box into the room shown on its label, reassembles the furniture and, if you wish, takes the packing material away. Together you check against the inventory list that every number has arrived. Should anything be damaged, we record it on the delivery note immediately – the basis for fast settlement through the insurance.

Moving with children and pets

Moving abroad is a big step for children. Involve them early: let them pack their own box with favourite toys, a cuddly toy and books, loaded last and unpacked first. Arrange registration at the new school or nursery in good time and carry school reports and vaccination records in your hand luggage.

Pets do not travel in the removal truck. For dogs and cats travelling between Turkey and the EU, a microchip, rabies vaccination, pet passport and – depending on the direction – an antibody test with a waiting period are usually required. Because these deadlines can run to several months, talk to your vet early. Your contact person will help you coordinate the delivery of your belongings with your pet’s journey.

What makes our service different

  • One contact person: the same person looks after you from survey to delivery, in English, German or Turkish – by phone and WhatsApp.
  • In-house customs department: documents are prepared by us, not by an external agent. Questions are answered faster and mistakes spotted earlier.
  • Branch in Germany: survey, packing and loading are handled by our own teams on site.
  • Insured packing: special materials, numbered boxes and transport with comprehensive insurance – more on our insured packing page.
  • Interim storage: if your new home is not ready yet, we store your belongings with our sister brand FlexiDepo.

FAQ

FAQ: Moving Turkey – Europe

Ask us on WhatsApp
How long does a move between Turkey and Europe take?

It depends on the country, transport type and customs. You receive a written delivery window before loading.

Is the UK handled differently?

Yes. Moves to and from the UK involve a ferry crossing and separate UK customs procedures, which we include in planning.

Is insurance included?

Our moves are covered by transit and comprehensive insurance, detailed in your quote.

From what volume is a dedicated vehicle worthwhile?

As a rule of thumb from around 25–30 m³. Below that a part load is usually cheaper, provided your date is flexible.

Can I send part of my belongings ahead?

Yes. Urgent items can be sent ahead by air freight or a small part load, with the main move following later.

Does the quoted price still apply on moving day?

Yes, as long as the volume and conditions match the survey. If extra furniture is added, we discuss it with you beforehand.
